It promises to be a very busy year for by-elections, the council election in Bristol and the expected General Election.
I started the year by visiting Wellingbrough to support Labour's candidate Gen Kitchen, standing in the by-election taking place of 15th February.
Closer to home on the same day, Damien Egan will be looking to become the MP in Kingswood following the resignation of the Tory Chris Skidmore. This is a great opportunity for Labour to start the year in Bristol by sending a message to Rishi Sunak that his days in office are numbered. Damien will make a fantastic MP and I am looking forward to campaigning with him in Kingswood over the coming weeks and to him joining the south-west's other Labour MPs in Parliament.
We are also campaigning towards the crucial council elections in Bristol in May. It was great to see first-hand the warm reception our Labour candidates in Windmill Hill, Charlie Mercer and Su Murley, recieved from voters on Saturday.
