Finally Rishi Sunak has realised that his time is up and has called a General Election for 4th July.
It was an honour to be elected as the MP for Bristol South in 2015, and humbling to be re-elected in 2017 and in 2019. It would be a privilege to continue to serve as part of a Labour government after the next election.
I want a fair society, where each one of us has an equal opportunity to fulfill our potential, supported by each other and by an accountable and responsive state. Bristol South is one of the most economically deprived constituencies in the country with some parts in the 10% most deprived nationally. I want to use my experience, skills, and political passion to continue to fight on behalf of the people of Bristol South and build the fairer society I want to see for my family, and for families across Bristol South.
I urge you to vote Labour on 4th July to bring a change of Government and hope for renewal for our country.
